PUBLIC SPEAKING

How I fell into this.

Being on stage is not where I was 'supposed' to end up.

I was the kid in class who would not show up on public speaking day.   I was literally terrifed of it.

But somehow, that all changed.

Today I'm the guy who wrote his wedding speach in his head while the photographer was taking photos of my wife.  I'm the 'default emcee'  at family events and have even been honored with preciding over a funeral with over 300 guests.

Professionally, I've lectured at three universities, emceed  conferences with hundreds of corporate executives and hosted over five hundred digital workshops, meetups and in-person seminars.

I'm now a regular workshop host for the NZ government's own Digital Boost programme.

My speaking style is very Kiwi and informal and I'm not ashamed to say that I have a tendency to lean into authenticity, emotional spaces and to take audiences on an emotional journey.

The obvious topics are business, innovation and marketing but I like to bind into my speaking engagements personal stories related to my life including being an accomplished ultra-marathon runner, a Dad, a poet and author.

Marketing on a Shoestring

Stu's marquee workshop.  This 90-120 minute hands-on workshop has been described by attendees as 'highly informative', 'the most practical thing I've ever attended' and 'inspirational'.

Ideal for business conferences with small business owners, franchisees and supplimental training for teriary students.

Growing LinkedIn to 20K Follows in 15 mins per Day

This short, 15 minute (+ questions time) workshop is straight to the point, highly effective and an extremely useful way to get audience members to kick start their LinkedIn

What finishing 3rd in my second ever ultra-marathon has taught me about business and life

This presentation is inspirational, humorous and touching.  In a 25 minute story, Stu recalls how his journey inside the 'toughest run of his life' mirrors closely the other great achievements in his life and connects the dots between 'why factor', 'resilience', 'motivation' and 'revelation'.

Ideal for business audience both in person, digital or audio only

How to build a loyal community on social media so that you never have to ask for a sale

This presentation is a story format where Stu walks through four real-world scenarios (one failure and three highly successful busineses) to illustrate to the audience how to reframe their approach to social media.

Real world case studies include a nutritionist , an online fitness instructor and a charity.  Each example, a solopreneur with little or no marketing funds.

Exellent for business conferences, tertiary training,  podcasts, video interviews and livestreams

Four hours from bankruptcy.  The moment that unlocked the artist, the athlete, the devoted father and the purposeful entrepreneur.

A great key-note session to capture the attention of and inspire the heck out of a business owner audience.

Stu shares a highly emotional story of business highs and then rapid lows that lead to an incredibly scary and dark time.  Stu then delicately and artfully carries the audience through his personal story of growth, discovery and revelation.

Due to the personal nature of this presentation, Stu is careful about which events he talks at on this topic.

This story is also included in Stu's second book, The Shoestring Marketer.

$384,000 in 3 days with a bloody letter.

Stu re-tells a humorous and riveting tale of one of his favourte marketing campaigns.  Presented with a client who wanted to cancel the project, a budget slashed in half and only 8 days to pull it all together - this one is a rollercoaster.

This is a fast paced, animated and no-holds barred story told with humour and compassion.  The ending is a happy one, but it also has a quirky twist.

Suitable for any marketing or business audience, this 25 min presentation is best in person, but can easily be retold on interview or podcast format.
